Arrival and Departure


Registration/Check-in is held in the parking lot of the Jack Wyrtzen Center, located on the Bible Institute property (4200 Glendale Rd, Pottersville, NY 12860). Arrive on Sunday no earlier than 2 p.m. and no later than 5 p.m. Late arrivals should report directly to their respective camp office. Please carry any medications with you through the check-in process to check them into our health center staff.

Please leave your luggage in your vehicle. You will proceed to your camp for camper drop-off after check-in.


Return the following Saturday morning between 8AM-9AM to pick up your camper from the JWC building (4200 Glendale Rd, Pottersville, NY 12860).  Please bring a photo ID to verify your identity. If you will be late please be sure to call (518) 494-1300 and make arrangements.

Is transportation available?


We provide van shuttle service to and from Albany International Airport for $20/trip on Saturdays and $25/trip Sunday – Friday.


If your camper needs round-trip van shuttle service from Albany International Airport or the Pottersville Bus Station, please call (518) 494-1461 between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM weekdays or e-mail to give advance notice. Please have your ride information ready when you call. A Word of Life staff member will meet your camper. Campers can give their return tickets to the camp office until departure time.

We provide transportation to and from the following public transportation sites in Albany:

  • Albany International Airport
  • The Albany/Rensselaer Train Station (Amtrak)
  • Megabus stop at the Albany/Rensselaer Train Station
  • Trailways Greyhound Station

There is a $20 one-way transportation fee per person.  Arrival and departure transport:  $40 per person. *

*We also provide transportation to our camps in Pottersville or our camps in Schroon Lake, if the Trailways Public Transportation System is used, free of charge.

Is more than one week of camp allowed?

We’d love for you to stay more than one week!

The only thing that can top a week at Word of Life Camps is Two (or more) weeks. That’s why we have Weekend Experience.  Weekend Experience is an awesome, weekend program for Ranch, Wild Camp, and Island campers who stay more than one week. From Saturday morning through Sunday afternoon, campers will enjoy lots of cool adventures, including:

One Day Pass to Great Escape Theme Park in Lake George (retail value: $68), Laundry Service (retail value: $10),Weekend Experience T-Shirt (retail value: $12), 4 Meals and Camp Lodging (retail value: $60), Movie Party (retail value: $8), Sunday Morning Program.

My camper is staying more than one week. Anything I should know?

We strive to maintain a safe, supportive, and Christ-centered camping environment. In order to ensure this environment, campers who are registered for four or more weeks will be evaluated after their second week of camp with the intention of ensuring that both the camp and camper’s needs are being met. Parents, or guardians, will be informed of the child’s progress and whether or not further action may be required.

If a camper’s behavior cannot be accommodated at our camp, the parent’s will be notified of their dismissal and a refund will be issued for any unused weeks of camp.

Is there a camper bank?

Upon arrival, campers are encouraged to put their money in the Camper Bank for safekeeping. The amount of spending money you bring is up to you. Campers may withdraw money at scheduled times each day. Word of Life is not responsible for any money or items not deposited in the Bank. Counselors will assist those campers not accustomed to handling their own money.

What is the food like?

Food served is of the finest quality and is prepared under strict supervision. A well-balanced diet is planned for each day. Campers are served buffet style and are free to eat as much as they desire. Candy and snacks are available at the Snack Shack at an additional charge.

How do I call a camper?

Please limit calls to campers to emergencies only. The camp office can be reached between 8:00 AM and 10:00 PM. A message will be taken to your camper and they will return your call if necessary. Please limit calls after 10:00 PM to extreme emergencies only. The Ranch Office number is 518-494-1300.

Where can I send mail for a camper?

Lost and found articles are returned upon claim by parents, up to 2 weeks after the end of their camping week.  It is requested that parents reimburse Word of Life for the shipping charges.  A letter will be included with the address to mail the check to and how much the cost of shipping was.

Do activities cost money?

We keep our additional charges to a minimum and have, in fact, eliminated some over the last few years. There are a couple activities that are necessary to charge for, though, such as paintball and water-tubing.

Is there an ATM on property?

An ATM is available for parental use only on the property. Please ask for assistance upon arrival.

Is there a lost and found?

Lost and found articles are returned upon claim by parents, up to 2 weeks after the end of their camping week.  It is requested that parents reimburse Word of Life for the shipping charges.  A letter will be included with the address to mail the check to and how much the cost of shipping was.

Are cell phones, iPods, portable gaming devices, or other electronic devices allowed?

Campers are not permitted to bring electronic devices to camp.

My camper is from outside the USA. Anything I should know?

Passports are required for all campers who are not US citizens. Upon arrival your camper is encouraged to give these documents to the camp office for secure storage.

Should the need arise, a parent or guardian must be able to reach the camp property within 48 hours. If this is not possible a secondary contact is to be designated to do so.

Does a camper need to have their own insurance policy?

Word of Life Camps are a non-profit, charitable organization dependent on God and His people. Those who use Word of Life facilities and/or engage in related activities, waive and release and claim for personal injury or property damage. Attendees agree to carry insurance or have the resources to cover the expenses related to personal injury or property damage.

How do cabin assignments and cabinmate requests work?

All cabin assignments will be made before arrival. Any special requests must be made ahead of time via your online account.
